Dodo Internet, Internet that “Flies”

I have been using Telstra/Bigpond for a year now, But when I used Dodo Internet I had many problems, either I cannot connect or I couldn’t get to any website.

Their support techs say to restart the computer, change settings, reinstall the modem, check the phone line, anything they can think of that is computer-internet related, The one thing I would of loved to ask them was, “My internet was working 5 minutes ago, In those 5 minutes the only thing I have done is picked up the phone and called you, I have done nothing to my computer, modem or phone line, Why do you insist the problem is on my end?”, Yes, I know all Internet Providers are like that.

And these problems weren’t those little ones that are ok after a few minutes, sometimes they lasted for hours, and not once a months, I had problems getting to websites at least 3 times a day, and not just 1 or 2 sites, I mean every website I tired to get to, and half the time, it took minutes to load a webpage, as if I was using a 2kbps connection.

My Mother uses Dodo, Now she doesn’t use the internet much, so she hardly has problems and just tells me “Thats what you think, Other people probably don’t have problems like me”, So I reply to her with “But you hardly use the internet”, and to end it she just says “Yeah well oh well…”, In fact, many people do have problems.

And a few weeks ago, she applied for Broadband, sadly with Dodo, and she is still using Dial up, Did I mention she applied weeks ago?,
Lets go over the process of getting Broadband,
1. Check line/exchange computability: A few days.
2. Get the hardware: She already had a modem.
3. Wait for the ISP to setup and activate the service: A few days to a week.
Now this is around 2 weeks ago, and as I stated before, She is still using Dial up, and still thinks Dodo have great service.

This is from Dodo’s website, “We have emerged from the mists of antiquity to provide every Australian and every Australian business with the very best service at the most competitive price on the market.”,
with the very best service? Ok, It took My ISP(Bigpond) a few Hours to setup my Broadband, and my Grandmother’s ISP(iPrimus) a week,
And they say with the very best service on their site? its been almost a month since she applied for Broadband, what kind of service is that?

I will post an update if and when they activate the service.

    I found you through Google’s BlogSearch. I’m so bloody fed up with Dodo, I don’t know what to do with myself. At this point, I’m starting to think about making a website/blog/something about them. Unbelievable story, you have. You wouldn’t believe what I hear, when I do a little digging.
